Dryopteris filix-mas, also known as the male fern, is an elegant deciduous variety naturally found growing in woodlands throughout the UK. Large green fronds reaching up to a metre in length form a distinctive shuttlecock shape. In Autumn the fronds turn a coppery-bronze colour and look fabulous coated in early morning dew.
