Digitalis purpurea are classic woodland flowers. The beautiful tubular shaped flowers open from the base of the spike in shades of pink through to purple from June-July. If allowed to self-seed, they create expansive, naturalized displays, adding vertical interest to lightly shaded borders or woodland style settings.

 Plant care

Digitalis purpurea typically begin flowering in their second year. Although primarily biennial, if provided with favourable conditions, they will produce numerous new side shoots and readily self-seed.
