We were delighted to work alongside Bridget and Tiff at Go Botanical to supply the plants and help build their beautiful border design ‘A Sensory Soak’. The border was designed around the concept of Japanese shinrin-yoku or forest bathing. Bathing the senses in the surrounding woodland, relaxing the mind, and washing away the stresses of day. The border was showcased at the BBC Gardeners World Spring Fair, Beaulieu in 2023
The plants chosen were designed to demonstrate the abundance of varieties available that thrive in shady and partially shaded gardens. Multi-stem birch trees were used as the canopy layer and underplanting included a diverse range of ferns, herbaceous perennials, and shrubs. Swathes of vibrant blue Omphalodes and vivid pink Primulas stole the show with their dramatic colours. Vibrant green Viburnum opulus buds looked stunning set against a backdrop of fluttering Exochorda and delicate heart shaped Dicentra flowers. Delicate white Epimedium’s mingled with mixed ferns and Brunneras. Camassias punctuated throughout the garden with their dramatic purple flower spikes and the bees and visitors to the show flocked to enjoy.
The whole show was sensational, and the garden was awarded a Gold Medal, and Best Magazine Subscriber Beautiful Border 2023.
All the varieties planted in the show garden are listed below. They will become available to buy direct from our upcoming online shop. If you are interested in knowing more or purchasing any of the plants used in the garden, please do get in touch.
