We work alongside a number of nurseries that specialise in supply of pleached trees. we have been supplying pleached trees to landscapers and designers for six years now and have decided to take the next step on our journey and open up supply direct to our local community. All the pleached trees we supply come from wholesale nurseries across Hampshire although most started their lives in the fields across Italy. We work with Hampshire nurseries that have strong ties with these nurseries and hand pick pleached trees to order. Customers will benefit from a wealth of knowledge, both from ourselves and the growers. Due to the wide range available to us, we find it easier to operate pleached tree supply on a request and quote basis as the varieties and sizes available are ever changing. We personally deliver all our tree orders, so you can be assured of quality and attention to detail at every step of the way.

These fantastic specimens offer screening from the top of the fence up. They are designed to add, height, screening, and privacy without the added bulk of low-level foliage. These are perfect for screening overlooking windows, unsightly views and giving extra privacy to your garden.

Pleached trees come in a range of heights and widths. The two most common clear stem heights are the full standard at 180cm and the 3/4 standard at 150cm. The full standards are perfect for adding extra height above a 6ft (180cm) fence and the 3/4 standards fit perfectly above the 5ft (150cm ) fence panels.

There is a wide choice of pleached varieties available. The most common evergreen (retains leaves year round) varieties available are laurel, photinia, elaeagnus, magnolia, ilex and viburnum. These can easily be maintained with a twice yearly pruning.

Beech and Hornbeam are also both regularly used. These look great in gardens with more natural settings. Although their leaves brown in the autumn months, the trees hold onto the dried leaves through the winter giving a level of screening. Old leaves fall as the new leaves emerge in the Spring (or slightly earlier if there is very windy weather).

There are a number of deciduous varieties that make excellent pleached screening. Liquidamber is one of the most popular, prized for its maple shaped leaves and stunning autumn colour.

Carpinus betulus - Hornbeam

A lovely deciduous variety with limey green serrated leaves that darken to a mid green. A popular pleached choice as it retains its autumn dried leaves through the winter giving a level of screening. Golden yellow leaves in autumn, catkins in spring followed by winged papery fruits give this variety lots of seasonal interest. Thrives in full sun through to partial shade in moist, free draining soil. Tolerant of costal and exposed sites.

Elaeagnus ebbingei - Silverberry

Medium sized silvery grey-green leaves that look fabulous year-round. Clusters of white, bell shaped, perfumed flowers in spring, followed by oval shaped reddish-brown berries in autumn. Elaeagnus is easy to grow in well drained soils in either sunny or partially shady sites. It is tolerant of most conditions, including exposed, windy, and costal sites.

Fagus sylvatica - Beech

Deciduous variety with soft, lime green feathery foliage in spring which mature to deep green oval leaves. A popular pleached choice as it retains its autumn dried leaves through the winter giving a level of screening. Lovely coppery brown autumn leaf colour. Thrives in full sun through to partial shade in moist, free draining soil. Tolerant of costal and exposed sites.

Ilex Nellie R Stevens - Holly

Glossy, green prickly leaves year round. Clusters of white flowers in late spring. Vibrant red berries through the winter months. A real favourite for native birds! Tolerates any well drained soil. Enjoys both sun and shade and will tolerate costal conditions.

Liquidamber styraciflua

A fabulous deciduous variety with stunning autumn coloured leaves. Vibrant green maple shaped leaves turn to a blazing crimson gold in autumn. Thrives in sheltered positions in moist, free draining clay and acidic soils.

Magnolia grandiflora Gallisoniensis

A lovely evergreen variety with deep green, glossy leaves. Fragrant, large white flowers in summer and autumn. These magnolias are tolerant of most soil types as long as they are moist and free draining. They prefer a sheltered position away from strong winds. Growing well in sheltered, costal gardens.

Photinia x fraseri Red Robin

Stunning evergreen variety with red glossy leaves through the spring and summer. These red leaves fade to green once matured. Clusters of white flowers smother this variety during the late spring. Although not an overly dense growing variety, this still provides good coverage and a reasonable level of screening year-round.

Prunus laurocerasus - Cherry Laurel

One of the most widely used varieties. Glossy, large deep green leaves give good coverage year round. Spikes of white flowers in the spring months. Fast growing variety so will need pruning twice a year, but will reward you with year round dense cover. Thrives in full sun through to partial shade. Prefers moist free draining. Tolerant of exposed and costal sites.

Viburnum tinus Lucidum

A lovely evergreen variety with glossy mid-green leaves. Tiny white flowers in early spring followed by blackish-blue berries. Tolerant of costal conditions, but requires a sheltered spot away from harsh winds. Requires moist, free draining soil. Grows well in full sun through to semi-shade.
